Hall Captures PNW PGA Assistant Professional Championship

PGA Professional Jamie Hall of PNW Golf Academy completed a remarkable comeback to capture the PNW PGA Assistant Professional Championship on August 3 at Fairwood Golf & Country Club.
Hall entered the final stretch four strokes behind Nicholas Watts of Emerald Valley Country Club with just five holes remaining. With Watts in position to claim the title and 2023 champion Daniel Campbell of Bellingham Golf & Country Club also in contention, Hall needed a strong finish to have a chance. He delivered, making the most of his opportunities down the stretch to emerge as champion.
"I felt like if I could keep the ball in front of me, I could give myself some chances to go for pins. Also, being four strokes back with five to go, you never really expect to win, so I think it freed me up to be extra aggressive on the back nine."
Watts finished runner-up, while Campbell placed third after battling with Hall and Watts during the closing holes.
Hall’s aggressive approach paid off early on the back nine, where he produced what he called his best shot of the day. Facing 260 yards on the par-5 10th, Hall had to navigate around trees with a difficult shot into the green.
"My second shot on the Par five 10th. I had 260 in and had to cut a three iron around some trees by the green, and I was able to pull the shot off and hit it to about four feet, then converted the putt for eagle."
The eagle gave Hall valuable momentum as he continued his charge toward the championship.
Behind every successful golfer is often a coach, mentor or family member who helped shape the player they became. For Hall, that list begins with his college coach and his parents.
"Coach Earl from my time at University of Hawaii, who taught me how to compete and helped me get the most out of my game. And then my parents."
Hall’s victory came on a 36-hole, single-day championship, making his comeback even more impressive. Golf is never a solo mission and the champion celebrated with those who support him the most.
"I picked up a beer and ate dinner with my wife and our dog."
Hall won’t have much time to rest on his victory. The Northwest Open is next on his schedule, and his preparation will look much like a typical week for a PGA Professional.
"The Northwest Open is next for me. I'll be preparing by teaching all week and hopefully hitting some balls in between lessons."
Hall and Campbell both earned berths into the 50th PGA Assistants Championship, which will be held November 12–15, 2026, at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
