Campbell Claims Oregon Open Invitational Title with Course-Record Performance
Nathaniel Bailey, PNW PGA Tournament Intern
The 2026 Oregon Open had everything you could ask for in a championship. Wicked first-round winds tested the field, while Black Butte Ranch's Glaze Meadow Course witnessed a record-setting performance from champion Daniel Campbell. It was a tournament that will be remembered for years to come.
PGA Professional Daniel Campbell of Bellingham Golf & Country Club captured the championship at 13-under-par 203 with rounds of 70-63-70. While the 2025 Rolex PNW PGA Player of the Year’s first round kept him well within striking distance heading into the second round, what followed was a performance few will soon forget.
Campbell entered the second round with a simple objective.
"My goal was to get to 7-under total and put myself in position for the final round."
Just hours later, Campbell turned that mindset into a course-record 9-under 63, setting a new course record at Glaze Meadow. The bogey-free round featured nine birdies and propelled him into command of the championship. Over the course of three rounds, Campbell totaled an impressive 20 birdies.
The victory was especially meaningful after falling in a playoff at last year's Oregon Open Invitational. Asked what changed over the past year, Campbell pointed to a renewed focus on the fundamentals.
"I worked on my putting fundamentals, focusing on my setup and ball position. Then I took it onto the course to build trust in both my swing and my putting setup."
Asked what advice he has for young PGA Professionals entering tournament golf, Campbell's answer reflects the disciplined approach that carried him to victory. "My advice for young professionals competing would be to play to your strengths, work on narrowing the misses and creating a smaller dispersion."
While the Oregon Open may be remembered for Campbell's record-setting second round, it was his steady play over all 54 holes that ultimately separated him from the field, finishing six strokes clear of runner-up Blake Snyder of PNW Golf Academy.
Reflecting on his victory, Campbell said, "Every Section Major is special, but this one had one of my best overall rounds in a Section Major that I will always remember. Glaze Meadow was a difficult course that tested all areas of our games, and it is an honor to be the 2026 Oregon Open Champion."
Campbell isn't planning to change much as he prepares for his next championship. His focus remains on the same fundamentals that led him to victory.
"Continuing to work on my putting fundamentals since putting is always important at Indian Canyon."
While Campbell claimed the professional title, Low Amateur honors went to Collin Hodgkinson of Oregon State University. The 2025 Washington Amateur Champion finished tied for 10th overall.
The Pacific Northwest PGA thanks Black Butte Ranch for hosting the championship and extends its appreciation to presenting sponsors Nikon Golf, Antigua, and StrackaLine, along with supporting sponsor PGA TOUR, for their continued support of the Oregon Open Invitational.
