Snyder & Porter Win Pacific Golf & Turf PNW PGA Pro-Amateur Championship

PGA Professional Blake Snyder of PNW Golf Academy and amateur Race Porter from Inglewood Golf Club claimed the title at the Pacific Golf & Turf PNW PGA Pro-Amateur Championship after an incredible two days of play at Gamble Sands Golf Club in Brewster, WA.

The weather was ideal for both rounds, with temperatures in the high 60’s on October 3 and slightly cooler on October 4. Sunny skies prevailed on both days, providing the players with excellent conditions to perform at their best.

The pair posted rounds of 55 and 62, for a remarkable total of 117. Snyder’s individual performance was equally impressive, shooting a scorching 60 in Round 1, setting a new course record at Gamble Sands—a record that was also matched by amateur Reid Hatley during the competition.

Snyder, reflecting on the win, said: "Honestly, it feels amazing. It’s always special to win, but doing it at a course like Gamble Sands with a good buddy makes it that much better. The competition was tough, and definitely no one handed us this win, so it really feels like an accomplishment to play so free and aggressive and come out on top."

Porter echoed his teammate's sentiment: "It feels amazing. To see all the names on the trophy makes it feel special as well, like we got a little piece of history. I was stoked to win with Blake, we see things in a similar way and have a very competitive approach. The whole weekend felt like the 'Step Brothers' movie—cracking jokes and having fun!"

The duo’s strong teamwork was a key factor in their success. Snyder added: "Winning with Race puts it in an entirely different category of awesomeness. We’ve played a lot of golf together, but playing in this tournament where we are relying on each other and coming up clutch time and time again together is just on an entirely different level."

Snyder’s remarkable first-round 60, which included three eagles, was a standout moment of the tournament. "That 60 was something special," Snyder remarked. "I got into a groove early and just tried to ride the momentum. The course was in such great shape, and is so creatively intriguing it allowed me to stay locked in and take advantage of a lot of scoring opportunities."

Porter praised Gamble Sands’ unique layout and the strategy required to navigate it: "Our game plan was to attack and be creative! The course is a playground on the approach which called for every shot in the book in order to take advantage of the nooks and crannies."

The event saw tough competition, including past champions PGA Professional Corey Prugh of Community Colleges of Spokane and amateur partner Reid Hatley of Hayden Lake Country Club, who finished in second place with an impressive 27-under-par.

Snyder concluded by commending the course conditions: "I’d just like to thank everyone at Gamble Sands, with a special tip of the cap to the greens crew, for how amazing the course was. I feel that it may have been one of the best-conditioned golf courses I’ve seen in my career. Just a world-class experience from start to finish." Porter agreed, noting: "The course was in fabulous shape, best rolling greens in the Northwest!"
