PNW PGA Professional Championship (PPC)/2024
Brady Sharp Clinches Section Championship at Everett G&CC
Brady Sharp of Oswego Lake Country Club delivered an impressive performance to capture the PNW PGA Professional Championship, presented by Club Car, Corebridge Financial, and Rolex, at Everett Golf & Country Club. Sharp carded rounds of 68, 70, and a remarkable 64 in the final round, finishing with a total of 202. His strong finish secured a three-stroke victory over David Phay from Whidbey Golf & Country Club during a dramatic final day of the 54-hole tournament. The field featured 106 players, with the course set up at 6,215 yards, par 72. While mornings were foggy, temperatures hovered in the high sixties, creating ideal playing conditions for the week.
Joining Sharp and Phay in advancing to the 2025 PGA Professional Championship, to be held April 27-30 at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, FL, are Ryan Benzel of Sahalee Country Club, Austin Hurt of Wing Point Golf & Country Club, Russell Grove of North Idaho College, Jerrel Grow of Pronghorn Resort, and Mitch Lowe of Glendoveer Golf Course.
“Losing to Corey Prugh in a playoff back in 2020 and coming close in 2019, this feels great to get my first win—and hopefully, if I can stay healthy, it won’t be my last!” Sharp said of his win.
This win holds special meaning for Sharp, who has experienced a series of health battles in recent years. He elaborated on how this victory stands out compared to his previous Section titles: “Each one has been special in its own way, but this one means a lot because of how I battled through the entire week. I was sick, and it was tough, but knowing I’ve earned another spot at the National Championship makes it all the more rewarding.”
Sharp noted that the setup at Everett G&CC played to his strengths, particularly his accuracy and iron play: “You have to be accurate off the tee and place the ball well to give yourself the best chances. The greens were amazing all week, and that’s one of my biggest strengths.”
The final day saw the leaderboard constantly shifting, with Sharp delivering a pivotal eagle on the 16th hole that helped secure the win: “I made a great eagle on #13, which started to shift the momentum for me. On #15, I made a really good birdie and knew I was tied with Russell (Grove) for the lead. Russell had an amazing start—he was -6 through 6, and I was +1 through 5—but I knew there were opportunities on the back nine. Standing on #16, I decided to stay aggressive, and when we got to the green, I was 15 feet away. I made the putt, and that pretty much sealed it!”
With this win, Brady Sharp not only claimed his first PNW PGA Professional Championship but also set his sights on further success in the months to come as he prepares for the National Championship.
