Hall of Fame/Bill Porter
Bill Porter, PGA is recognized for an accomplished professional playing career that brought national success and regional distinction to Pacific Northwest golf. Born in Moses Lake, Washington, Porter developed his game early and played one year of collegiate golf at the University of Oregon before turning professional in 1980.
Porter spent the early years of his career balancing club professional responsibilities with competition on mini-tours, steadily working toward the highest levels of the game. His perseverance was rewarded in 1991 when he earned his card on the Ben Hogan Tour—now known as the Korn Ferry Tour—through Q School. From 1992 to 1996, Porter competed on both the Ben Hogan/Nationwide Tour and the PGA Tour, facing the strongest fields in professional golf. A notable national victory came in 1994 with a win at the Nike Louisiana Open on the Ben Hogan Tour. Competing on the PGA Tour in 1995, Porter recorded his best finish with a tie for 11th at the Deposit Guaranty Golf Classic. In addition to his tour success, he was a dominant force in Pacific Northwest competition, capturing multiple Section major championships, including three Northwest Opens, three Oregon Opens, the Rosauers Open, the PNW PGA Professional Championship, and the Washington Open.
Since 2003, Porter has served as Head Golf Professional at The Links at Moses Pointe in his hometown of Moses Lake, continuing a career defined by competitive excellence, consistency, and a lifelong commitment to the game.
