Erdmann Wins PNW PGA Professional Championship

PGA Professional Scott Erdmann of Oswego Lake CC won the PNW PGA Professional Championship presented by Club Car, Corebridge Financial and Rolex on September 17 at Astoria G&CC. Erdmann fired rounds of 64-65-70–199 to win by one stroke over Daniel Campbell, Blake Kukula, and Austin Hurt.

“It’s a dream come true! Our section has gotten considerably younger and more talented over the last number of years, which makes winning a Section major incredibly gratifying,” said Erdmann.

With the victory, Erdmann joins six other PNW PGA Professionals who will advance to the 2027 PGA Professional Championship presented by Club Car, Corebridge Financial and Rolex, to be held at Streamsong Golf Resort in Bowling Green, Florida, on April 25-28, 2027: Daniel Campbell of Bellingham G&CC, Blake Kukula of Arrowhead GC, Casey King of Loophole Golf, Conner Robbins of Meadow Park GC, David Patterson of Orchard Hills CC, and Josh Scothorne of Interbay Golf Center. Derek Berg of PNW Golf Academy, Bryce Fisher of Arrowhead GC, and Austin Hurt of Wing Point G&CC are exempt into the national event based on their recent finishes in the 2026 PGA Professional Championship.

For Erdmann, the opportunity to return to the national championship is particularly meaningful. He has previously advanced to the PGA Professional Championship six times: 2011 at Hershey Country Club, 2012 at Bayonet & Black Horse, 2013 at Crosswater, 2017 at Crosswater, 2019 at Belfair, and 2024 at Frisco.

His first appearance in 2011 was also his best finish, as he lost in a playoff to David Hutsell for the championship. That finish qualified Erdmann for the 2011 PGA Championship at Atlanta Athletic Club and earned him a spot on the 2011 PGA Cup Team.

“That’s the whole reason for playing the event—to have the opportunity to make it to Nationals,” said Erdmann. “So to win it and earn that spot, especially at my age, couldn’t make me happier.”

The low 20 scores at the 2027 PGA Professional Championship presented by Club Car, Corebridge Financial and Rolex will earn a place in the 109th PGA Championship in May 2027.

Also recognized during the championship was Conner Robbins of Meadow Park GC, who fired a 62, 10-under par, to tie the course record during the second round. Erdmann will now turn his attention toward preparing for the national championship next spring. He said his preparation will focus on continuing the habits that have helped him remain competitive, including regular workouts and a focus on nutrition.

“Being competitive going into your 50s means making some sacrifices you maybe haven’t always made throughout your life—namely getting into the gym consistently and eating well,” said Erdmann. “I think that’s been a big part of what has allowed me to play well this past year, so it’ll be more of the same going forward, and maybe with even a little more discipline as Nationals gets closer.”

“Representing the PNWPGA is a great honor because I believe it’s one of the strongest playing sections in the country,” he added. “I’m very proud to have another opportunity to represent our Section at Nationals.”

The victory also comes at the end of an especially difficult year for Erdmann and his family. His wife, Ionela, experienced serious health issues beginning in July 2025 and was later diagnosed with occipital neuralgia. She was also diagnosed with breast cancer in the spring of 2026. Erdmann said that as she has continued to heal and some normalcy has returned to their lives, it has given him a renewed perspective.

“Golf is obviously important to me and I’m incredibly proud of this win, but watching her get healthier has been a pretty powerful reminder of what really matters,” said Erdmann.
