Wescott and Foushee Capture Pacific Golf & Turf PNW PGA Pro-Am Title
PGA Professional Hunter Wescott of Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club and amateur Zach Foushee of Langdon Farms Golf Club claimed victory on October 9th at Portland Golf Club in the Pacific Golf & Turf PNW PGA Pro-Am Championship.
The duo delivered a stellar performance over two days, firing a 64 (8-under) on Wednesday and following it up with a 62 (10-under) on Thursday to finish at 18-under for the championship. They finished two strokes ahead of the team of Nicholas Watts of Eugene Country Club and amateur Charlie Stankawitz of Bandon Crossings Golf Course, who took second place.
The Pacific Golf & Turf PNW PGA Pro-Am Championship, presented by Garmany Golf and supported by Hole-in-One USA and Kradul, pairs one PGA Professional with one amateur in a competitive four-ball format.
For Wescott, the victory was particularly meaningful. “It feels incredible to be able to hoist this trophy finally!” he said. “Reading the other names that have won this event and being able to put Zach’s and mine on it—it’s surreal. It’s also great because it’s my first Section Championship win.”
Wescott, the 2024 Oregon PGA Chapter Player of the Year, credited their teamwork and clutch putting as the keys to success at Portland Golf Club. “I think the best part of our game to shine through were the putters,” he explained. “Zach made some deep putts, especially on the par 3s when we needed them, and both of us had our moments to step up when the other was in trouble.”
Foushee, one of the top amateur golfers in Oregon, has been on a remarkable run, winning his third straight Oregon Amateur Championship earlier this year. His sharp play continued at Portland Golf Club, especially down the stretch.
“We made a great team because we were able to step up when the other person struggled,” Wescott said. “We both had a run on each day where without it, we wouldn’t have finished where we did as a team. It also helps when your partner shoots a 30 on the back nine of day two on his own ball.”
Even when faced with challenges, the pair’s calm, confident approach kept them steady. “Only one moment got away from us leaving a bogey on the card,” Wescott recalled. “Otherwise, whoever had to step up, did. We never started hot through the first third of our rounds, but we made sure to stay calm and know our moment would come.”
Looking ahead, Wescott and Foushee both have their sights set on continuing the momentum. “Zach and I definitely want to try and repeat this event next year,” Wescott said. “Between now and then, I’m hoping to close out the year strong and get back on top in the Oregon Chapter Player of the Year race with two events to go. I’d also love to pull out one of the other Section majors soon—the Oregon Open, Washington Open, Rosauers, or Northwest Open.”
The Pacific Golf & Turf PNW PGA Pro-Am Championship was made possible thanks to the generous support of our partners. The Pacific Northwest PGA extends its appreciation to title sponsor Pete Trudeau with Pacific Golf & Turf, Bud Garmany and Garmany Golf, Amy Grogan with Hole-In-One USA, and Ian Crick with Kradul for their continued support.
