Harold West was born and raised in Chehalis, Washington. A fine player who started his professional career later than most, he won the 1953 [[Past_Champions/Washington Open|Washington Open]] and the 1951 [[Past_Champions/Northwest Open|Northwest Open]].  He won the [[Past_Champions/Oregon Open|Oregon Open Championship]] in 1948 and 1950, beating Porky Oliver in the latter on his home course, Tualatin Country Club.  West also won the Idaho Open and the Utah Open.  He served two stints at Tualatin CC with positions at Longview GC and Pendleton CC in between.  He was a fine teacher and at Tualatin he was know as &amp;quot;the round man with the fine golf swing.&amp;quot;  When Harold died, his fellow professionals in the Oregon Chapter named the [[Past_Champions/Oregon Open|Oregon Open Championship]] trophy after him.&lt;/div&gt;</summary>
